Vegetarian Weight Loss Foods

By Laura Ng

Food, in itself, does not burn fat. But when you consume the right type of vegetarian foods, you can lose weight faster than those who do not eat the so-called weight loss foods.

Since they don't burn fat, how can they help you lose weight? Let me explain...

When you eat, your body will need to burn calories from your internal energy reserve (made up of stored fat, protein and carbohydrate) to help in the breaking down of food (digestion).

So, if you were eating high-calorie food, your digestion may result in a calorie surplus. And if you don't expend these extra calories via physical activities, your body will simply store them up as fat.

On the contrary, when you ingest low-calorie vegetarian foods rich in fiber and complex-carbohydrate, the fibrous and complex structure in the food will trigger your body to burn more calories (from your energy stores) than the caloric content of the food itself to perform digestion, resulting in a negative calorie effect. Which means, you're burning fat in the process of low-calorie food digestion.

Amazing? That's how eating the right types of food helps you lose fat easily without trying too hard. Having said that, these foods are what you should eat for optimal vegetarian weight loss.

I gotta warn you that no single food can provide all nutrients our body needs. Hence, you should at all times, include a well-balanced varieties of vegetarian foods (containing some amount of nuts and seeds) to obtain full spectrum of nutrients for your body.

After all, it is those cells that manage your body and take care of your fat and weight. Depriving your cells of certain specific nutrients may get you stuck at a weight loss plateau, or worse, land you in serious nutritional disorder and damage your internal organs permanently.

Oh, on top of that, you should add these 3 healthy fats to your vegetarian meal plans to lose weight.

 • Coconut Oil — Generate thermogenic (fat-burning) response and convert to energy fast just like carbohydrate. Hold 8.62 calories per gram only (other oils: 9 calories per gram).

 • Olive Oil — Help to suppress cravings for more food.

 • Flaxseed Oil — Provide Omega-3 which is an essential fatty acid your body needs. Without it, your fat-burning engine can't perform at its best.
